Day 2 – Cu Chi Tunnels
After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll explore Ho Chi Minh City’s main spots including Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office (designed by Gustave Eiffel), and Reunification Palace. Then you’ll grab lunch at a local restaurant before heading to Cu Chi Tunnels, about 75 km away or roughly 1.5 hours by car. You’ll walk through the tunnel system that spans over 200 km and learn about its history during the Vietnam War. The tunnels include trap doors, living spaces, storage areas, weapon factories, hospitals, and command centers. You’ll try some simple local food and experience the tunnels firsthand before returning to your hotel.

Day 3 – My Tho – Mekong Delta
You’ll travel from Ho Chi Mihn City to My Tho on the Mekong River. First stop is Vinh Trang Pagoda from the late 1800s. Then you’ll board a sampan and cruise around the Four Islands (Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Tortoise). At Unicorn Island you’ll walk through country lanes, see orchards with tropical fruits, and visit fruit plantations while local performers play folk music. Later you’ll take a hand-rowed sampan through Thoi Son canal, stopping at a family business and honey-bee farm where you can try honey tea and see how coconut candy is made. After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll cycle around Tan Thach village and meet residents, or if cycling isn’t for you, relax in a hammock instead. You’ll return to Ho Chi Minh City for the night.

Day 4 – Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang to Hoi An
The morning is free until your driver takes you to the airport for your flight to Da Nang. Once you arrive, someone will pick you up and drive you to your hotel in Hoi An for check-in. From there, the rest of the day is yours to relax, walk around town, or do some shopping.

Day 5 – Hoi An
You’ll spend today in Hoi An however you want. Local markets, traditional workshops and nice cafes are pretty easy to find – you could wander around on your own if that appeals to you. Two optional tours also exist if you’re into that kind of thing. The first takes you to My Son Sanctuary – old ruins from the Cham kingdom that’s pretty interesting, especially with the sunset. They do a boat ride back along the Thu Bon River and it’s nice enough to watch the town lights come on while you float back into Hoi An. The Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills might be more your speed though. This cable car ride takes you way up in the hills where you can see that famous hand-holding bridge made of yellow pavers. Besides the bridge, you’ll find a French themed village (just random French-style buildings), some amusement park rides that kids might like, and lunch at midday included. Either way suits you and your group – just figure out what sounds more fun to you. You can let your guide know what you prefer later.

You have the full day to yourself. If you’d like, there’s an optional guided tour of Hoi An starting around 2:30 PM. The tour covers Hoi An Market, Phuc Kien Chinese Assembly Hall, ancient houses like Phung Hung and Tan Ky, the Museum of Folk Culture, and the Traditional Performing Arts House. You’ll see the Japanese Bridge (over 400 years old) and check out handicraft shops and art galleries. The tour includes a boat ride and you can release a flower lantern to make a wish, wrapping up around 6:30 PM.

Day 8 Hanoi
A guide and bus will pick you up between 8:00 and 8:30 AM for a tour of Hanoi. By 8:45 AM you’ll be at Tran Quoc Pagoda on Golden Fish Island in West Lake, which dates back to the 6th century and is Hanoi’s oldest pagoda. At 9:30 AM you’ll visit Ho Chi Minh Complex to see his mausoleum, gardens, and the houses where he lived from 1954 to 1969. Then you’ll check out the One Pillar Pagoda before heading to Vietnam Ethnology Museum at 11:15 AM to learn about the country’s 54 ethnic groups. Lunch happens at 12:45 PM with Vietnamese cuisine and vegetarian options available. At 2:00 PM you’ll visit Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university founded in 1070. By 3:15 PM you’re at Hoa Lo Prison, a French colonial jail from 1886 to 1901 now functioning as a war museum about resistance to French rule. You’ll return to your hotel by 4:30 PM. Optional activities for an extra fee include a cyclo ride through the Old Quarter (45 minutes) and a Water Puppet Show (50 minutes).

Day 9 – Hanoi to Ha Long Bay
After breakfast at your hotel, the cruise team picks you up and you’ll drive through the Red River Delta with its green rice paddies to reach Ha Long Bay. Once there, you’ll cruise around exploring limestone rocks and karst grottoes. You’ll enjoy a seafood lunch on the boat, then visit a famous limestone cave with chances to kayak or swim closer to floating villages and shops. You’ll return to the boat for an early dinner and then have free time to relax or participate in optional boat activities.

Day 10 – Ha Long Bay to Hanoi
Wake up early to watch the sunrise and breathe in the ocean air. You’ll have breakfast on the boat while cruising through thousands of islands in Ha Long Bay, which gives great photo opportunities. You’ll stop at a floating fishing village to learn about the fishermen’s way of life and their stories. Lunch is served on the boat during the cruise back to Halong City. You’ll arrive back in Hanoi’s Old Quarter around 3:30 to 4:00 PM.
